What is CareScan?
Paper logs capture intent, but can be difficult to verify and slow to review. CareScan gives staff a brief, guided workflow at each physical checkpoint and gives authorized leaders a clear record of completions, exceptions, follow-up, and data freshness.
Hardware + software workflow
A staff member authenticates using an assigned NFC badge or approved sign-in workflow.
The handheld reads an opaque NFC identifier. Tags do not contain resident names, room labels, or staff details.
The device saves the outcome locally before showing success. Routine work can continue during an interruption.
An on-premises Raspberry Pi appliance validates and stores synchronized records for the facility.
Authorized supervisors review due work, exceptions, activity, configuration, and reports.
Care-floor workflow
Staff scan a real checkpoint, choose the structured outcome that applies, and receive an honest saved or pending status. Unknown, retired, duplicate, or wrong-facility tags do not produce a valid completion.
Choose the status observed at this checkpoint.
Scan the next room.
Facility visibility
The local portal separates completed, late, missed, skipped, cancelled, exception, conflicted, and synchronization-uncertain states. Leaders can investigate the underlying timeline without turning a checkpoint tap into a claim about care quality.

Reporting and documentation

Responsible by design
CareScan strengthens documentation and operational awareness. It does not diagnose, prescribe, predict resident risk, dispatch emergency services, or replace professional judgment, direct communication, established emergency procedures, nurse-call systems, or electronic health records.
